Super Moon

We witnessed "super moon" as we celebrate a friend's birthday in one of the Beaches at Opol Misamis Oriental last March 19, 2011. We were so excited to witness the said phenomena and stayed up late to watch the moon rise :p At the same time, it was a high tide that the waves hit til the concrete bridge up to the main road. We even thought it was raining as some of the water was spilled over the rela we we riding. At around 10 PM, the sky wasn't clear and I could sense there's a bad weather coming as the the waves from the beach was hiting at the break water and the shore badly. Luckily, after we finished dinner at around 12midnight, we came out from our cottage and see the moon at its brightest. Though I couldn't see the real super moon like those at the movies, I still am happy to witnessed one along with my friends.

Environmental Issues and there Effects

As the saying goes "The energy you have put in the universe will come back to you", signifies that what you do as an individual and what you have given to the earth will come back to you.

The phenomenon that has now happening to the world shows the effects of how people use, manipulate and devastate the nature.

The recent tsunami and earthquake of Japan is the result of calamities that people couldn't do much about it. Pictures, videos and other footage has been claimed that Japanese people were too harsh to the ocean that it kills more than 20,000 dolphin a year. Others may say that the tsunami just happen were the nature's drawback to the Japan. Moving on, the Philippines has suffered flash floods, landslide and other calamities that kills thousands of individuals and hundreds of families came homeless. Also, Haiti has experienced earthquake that left Haitians the casualty of an earthquake that touch the hearts of people around the world. And now, Philippines is experiencing the rainfalls throughout summer. ITS GOING TO BE A RAINY SUMMER; NO DRY SEASON (source: Philippine Daily Inquirer). All this phenomenon are subject to climate change thus affecting the countries throughout the world.

I as a nature lover, climber and a concerned individual asking every concerned readers to take action to prevent this from happening over and over again. If, given the opportunity, I would also like to ask the government concern to lead the country. Just by planting trees, control all logging activities, saving endangered species, we might be able to help stop by increasing global warming effect. Given the country population of 9M and all these people will at least try to plant a single tree a year, we could then accumulate millions and millions of trees each year. In this case, we could save our earth from deteriorating and would help ourselves in saving lives.

I have been participating in tree planting activities as I start my interest in mountain climbing. I could say that many of Us Climbers already planted a lot of trees in the most bald peaks and mountains and yet we couldn't cover what been done and still been doing with some of our fellow individual. Just by simply making this blog, I could at least touch the heart of every readers and help save the earth.

2011 Tsunami Hits Japan and The Hidden Issues

The recent Tsunami devastated the not only Japan's local industries but telecommunications and nuclear power plant as well. A massive 8.9/9.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean nearby Northeastern Japan at around 2:46pm on March 11 (JST) causing damage with blackouts, fire and tsunami (source: http://www.google.com/crisisresponse/japanquake2011.html). The large earthquake triggered a tsunami alert in some countries facing Pacific Ocean that includes  Australia, Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia and New Zealand. Even in the regions in Pacific including South America, US west coast, Canada and Alaska received high alert warnings for the wake of tsunami. Being situated in the earthquake belt, Japan, as the most prepared earthquake nation, faced the terror of the natural calamity that even the technological preparedness has been thrown.

The technological advancement of Japan have saved them during the recent earthquake alert and its aftershocks that lasted for several minutes. Their earthquake shock proof building danced its way to the beat of the quake and stand itself from falling. Their power plant has been shut down as they received a tsunami alert that would hit the coast of Japan making making some of the establishments unavailable. The social media and communications played a major role in informing the people across the globe. Twitter and Facebook updates have created its way in updating the status and keeping their situation updated. Needless to say, communication and networking were the key to allowing the information spread.

Why has Japan face this calamity of the years?

Dolphins, as one of the most intelligent and friendly creature, has been mass slaughtered by Japan through these years making humans its most dangerous predator. Some organizations have reached help to stop this cruelty and even ask for their hearts to stop exploiting the oceans and the creatures that live in them. Japan  This short documentary video is the proof of how these people show no mercy in killing dolphins.

I found this video at youtube that says "The japanese kill about 20 000 dolphins every year, and their method is pretty cruel, as this clip from the documentary "The Cove" shows. It also claims that dolphin meat has dangerous levels of mercury, and the Japanese government itself advices that pregnant women should not eat it." (source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g8_3MS9x50&feature=related). These just proves that the Japanese Government does not care for the ocean life, thus giving them these kinds of calamities through the years.

Plans for 2011

This topic might be so late for the plans this year since the year has started but I guess this may not be too late to post plans for the incoming months. :)

I still have a loooooooooong year ahead and each month has been occupied with travel. I guess lol.

I started my year in joining the climb "Pasalamat 5" in celebration of the 5th Pasalamat Festival at Pagadian City hosted by mountaineers of the local in celebrating their City Fiesta of their Patron Sr. Sto. Nino. We peaked Mt. Murias which happen to be a grassland. lol. and reached their waterfall. The trail was so exciting on our way to the waterfall. We do rock climbing as we take off our shoes and climb up to the peak with barefooted. I got to meet a lot of new friends from different places and received a lot of invitations to visit their place. Anyhow, as the climb ended, the experience was fulfilling not to mention there were many  incidents (i know what you did last night) that had happen during the climb and it was all part of the fun.

I spend my Valentine's Day at Cagayan de Oro City, which happen to be the best Valentine's day ever! It was considered to be our friends reunion except for one who were miles away. We had explored Malasag Gardens: the garden itself, the pool, their amazing views and the cottages that would look like in Baguio in a split second. I stayed in CDO for 5days and head straight to Gingoog City and celebrated Maam Kate's Birthday. I get to see a few friends from there and shared a drink.

Today is March and I dont have any plans on going outside the city. Well at least I behaved and try to save for the next escapade. And oh! we get to meet and fetch David, Pam's boyfriend and we gonna go swimming at.  midway's. Now i think i dont got a boring March  :) April will be busy for Camiguin but sad to say we might won't make it to bohol since we got a lot of work. I mean loads of work. duh!

July: 2nd Midyear Climb at Camiguin. I got to visit camiguin thrice huh..
August: Manila here I come :) hmmmmm I got a lot of plans when I reach Manila. (Boracay, Intramuros, Tagaytay, Baguio) Spoiler!!! Mwahahaha
December: Kamras 5 at Mt. Kanlaon maybe

To sum it up.. I might have no busy 2011 year :p though other months are still to be filled up and my mind is widely thinking for other destinations.. :p considering Siargao and Palawan. Lets see :)

Cagayan de Oro Tanduay Concert

We bound for Cagaran de Oro City  with my bunch of friends at around 6:00 - 7:00 pm (November 12, 2010) for a more or less 2 hour drive from Iligan City. We know we won't arrived on time but the experience is worth it.

Kamikazee was currently playing when we arrived in the concert area at Limketkai ground, Cagayan de Oro City. They were the 2nd to the Last performer of the night. Rofl! We tried to be slipping into the crowd and put ourselves right in front of the stage and we were trying to find a friend who arrive hours earlier in CDO. Eunice is really a fan of rock bands and is following the tour since the start of the Tanduay Tour last 2009. We didn't make to see the first three performers but Bamboo saved the moments for US and he is soooo cute :D and Ira's so gorgeous!!! We took a couple of shots of Bamboo and the rest of the members of the band.
