It was so sudden to hear the news of a fellow Mountaineer and my heart goes out to his family and friends.
Last Tuesday, I have met with my fellow mountaineers in Boni area near EDSA. I was sorry to hear about the accident happen. It was the subject that have been talked since the incident and it was truly a heart breaking that until that day, the body is still missing and was found on September 7, 2011.
The activity was organized by Outdoor Addicts last weekend, September 3, 2011. On the 2nd day, the tragic happen while crossing Wawa river of Rodriguez, Rizal. I don't really know the exact thing happen during the activity but I do know that people with him on the incident tried there best to look for him. That's what mountaineering are for.
There have been a lot of stories I heard and despite the fact that there are people blaming the activity organizer, I believe that there's no one want what had happen. There are unexpected things happen anytime and the same thing may happen to any of us. It is a mere responsibility as an individual or as a group to take precautionary measures to avoid such incident.
Like what happen to us during the June 2011 Freedom climb in Mt. Lumot, Gingoog City. But the good thing is we arrived safe at the camp. And we later found out that the event's coordinator and in charge were looking for us. They all look so furious and worried at the same time. Though we didn't reach the peak, the feeling that we have arrived safely after hours of walking from 1 PM to 10 PM was awesome to think that we have first time companies and we almost had hypothermia. There were a lot of people blaming us or blaming the tour guide or whatever they want to blame but they didn't even know the real story. But there are people who were good enough to care.
Tragic indeed is inevitable and life was never easy. But don't let the hardships fall us down. Let us be a man of our own and be a friend of the people around us. Let this be a reason to ponder and show our love...
May you rest in peace po....
